Plus Respighi’s Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra welcomes back guest pianist Maxim Lando to bring George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F to life in a dazzling live performance. Joining him is musical leader and conductor Ming Luke. Gershwin, a trailblazer who fused classical traditions with the vibrant rhythms of American jazz, forever changed the landscape of 20th-century music. His piano concerto is a bold, energetic masterpiece full of sweeping melodies, musical flair, and cinematic drama. In addition, you’ll see two Roman-inspired works by Italian composer Ottorino Respighi: Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome.

Your musical getaway begins with check-in at The Lindy Renaissance® Charleston Hotel, followed by a wine blending session at the Grand Bohemian Wine Bar. Get in touch with your inner sommelier as you sample different wine varietals and then create your own custom blend. Enjoy its pairing with a gourmet charcuterie presentation or bottle it to take it with you.

On Day 2, you’ll have some time to explore the historic charm of downtown Charleston at your leisure. Later, head to Lenoir for a delicious pre-concert dinner. This restaurant created by celebrity chef, cookbook author, and TV personality Vivian Howard emphasizes Southern flavors through the idea that food with a story tastes better. After dinner you’ll head to the Gaillard Center to watch the Charleston Symphony Orchestra led by special guests conductor Ming Luke and pianist Maxim Lando perform Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F and Respighi’s Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome from excellent orchestra seats.

The performance of these masterworks hits all the right notes. But spots are limited, so take this cue to call and reserve your place today.
