A Look Into Salem’s Chilling Past at the Spookiest Time of Year

Visiting an old town can be surreal. The unique identity of a place is characterized by its past and the lingering presence of the many souls who bore witness to it. Most of the time the energy is irresistibly charming. But what about when the history is more macabre? That’s the case in Salem, Massachusetts. The town itself has taken on a supernatural element—especially in the fall when the veil between worlds may be a little thinner.

Now’s your chance to indulge in Salem’s intrigue this fall. Your bewitching adventure begins with check-in at Marriott Vacation Club® at Custom House, Boston, followed by an exclusive welcome reception. Then, dine with fellow Owners at Chart House, a historic seafood restaurant set on the scenic Long Wharf pier. Chart House is Long Wharf’s oldest surviving structure, formerly the John Hancock Counting House.

On Day 2, come your witching hour, you’re off to Salem. First, you’ll visit the Salem Witch Museum to see two spellbinding presentations. One examines the events of the infamous witch trials of 1692 through 13 stage sets, complete with narrations, figures, and lighting to emphasize the hysteria. The other exhibit explores the evolution of the modern-day stereotype of the witch. Next, you’ll embark on the History and Hauntings of Salem Guided Walking Tour to see several significant landmarks in historic downtown, including Old Witch House at Salem, the only building still standing with direct ties to the 17th-century witch trials, and the Salem Witch Trials Memorial, a poignant and somber tribute to the victims. Finally, recharge with fellow Owners during a late lunch at Finz Seafood & Grill, where you’ll delight in fresh seafood in an inviting waterfront location.

Spots for this spooky experience are limited. Book before they are gone, or it may haunt you.
